Hogwarts Moroccan Tile Afghan Update!

Image
UPDATE 1/27/23: I honestly have no idea what happened to this blanket? Did I take it apart? Did I give it as a gift? Did I maybe actually sell it. I do love me some nested Vs, y'all. It do be like that.   JKR's behavior in recent years has been disheartening, but it does not take away from the impact of her silly book series. You can be a Harry Potter fan without a JKR fan. You can pirate the novels so that not a cent goes to her. Keep making Hogwarts house stuff, sell it, keep all of that money.    And let us all revel in the irony that her books have been a source of joy for so many people she apparently despises. The very themes of her novels somehow escape her.    That being said, I won't continue to wax poetic on the matter.  Just a quick update - I finished the Slytherin section and I got excited. Hufflepuff is up next, but it's Friday night so I'm going to drink some bourbon and play video games. I'm also thinking about doing a "Free Pattern Frida

WIP Wednesday - Beam Guardian Scarf v3.0

UPDATE 1/23/23: I have been ITCHING to do something with staghorn cabling again and an i-cord edge. I might just make a basic bitch scarf. Would anyone buy it? Would I wear it? I might. Scarves take so long and are no joke, but people don't want to pay more than like $60 for one. I did a double-knit scarf recently that took 100+ hours. My knitting skills have improved a great deal since I made this first scarf and this original post. I'd go about beam scarves a lot differently now. I also fully intend to share my Beam Guardian charts. I just have to round them up and make a nice post. Head over to my Etsy to check out my current inventory and commission status! Serious inquiries only about commissions. I don't low-ball myself anymore and I properly value my own time and work. This is a bummer for a lot of people, but, you know what, the Dark Tower fandom has always been solid, and if you found your way to this post because of those books then hell yeah! Long days and pl

Mass Effect Colorwork Charts!

UPDATE 1/27/23: I should redo these and make them prettier, shouldn't I? I'll put it on the list. I do literally have a list, which I have started in Notepad!   I ended up putting that N7 patch on my own backpack. I really don't know why my crochet patches didn't do better?! DO PEOPLE NOT LIKE TO PUT PATCHES ON THEIR BAGS THESE DAYS?! Or...back then? When I made them...it was a while ago.   If for some reason you want one, please, let me know! I would gladly produce one (or more) for you. If you want to see what I currently have in stock, then check out my Etsy shop RIGHT NOW!  These charts would be awesome for duplicate stitch knitting, which I don't think I've ever used them for. Huh! What do you know...     ATTN: Mass Effect Yarncrafters Here's the deal with these charts: I've only used them for crochet, but they'll be fine for knitting. The Cerberus chart below is not the chart I used for the Cerberus patch . I also only included the small

UPDATE 2/16/23: This is turning into a recipe blog post and you have to read an entire dissertation at the top before you get to what you want! I'm so sorry! Or am I...  I've added another smaller version of the knitting/duplicate stitch/tapestry crochet version of the chart that isn't reversed (I still don't know why I made a reversed version), and I've also added a new version of the chart with squares instead of rectangles, which will work for c2c and cross stitch, which I'll put up here at the top out of the kindness of my heart! I'm going to make the Alliance emblem, and if you're not already, follow me on Facebook to get updated when I do this. Also, shoutout to the Stitchboard Pattern Wizard . It's worth every penny of the premium membership. It isn't perfect and I always have to do edits to my charts, but it definitely provides a very nice starting point, saves a ton of time, and I strongly recommend it if you're looking to make yo

WIP Wednesday - Hogwarts Moroccan Tile Afghan

UPDATE 1/23/23: I will not be discussing JKR here. What I will discuss is the Moroccan tile stitch AKA nesting V stitches.    You can find an awesome tutorial by Moogly , not by me. I love this stitch and I've made some new items with it that are in my Etsy shop .    I have no memory of what I did with this blanket. I know I didn't sell it and I priced it at like $40, which is batshit. I probably gifted it to someone or maybe I took it apart. It was a nice blanket.    ~~~~    Behold! I finished the Gryffindor section of this afghan. I even had some leftover Gryffindor colors, so I'm going to make an argyle hat. The hat isn't very interesting yet. I'll post a picture later this week. I am for real out of the colors I need to finish the rest of the sections. I'll get more yarn shortly and carry on. I know how I'm going to finish this thing - with granny square stitches (3 dc in space stitches) in the appropriate color over each section. Like how I bord

Chevron + Llamas = NEW HAT

UPDATE 1/23/23: I should find this pattern and share it, shouldn't I? I'll put it on the list. Look for another update soon! And this is yet another horrifying example of bad pricing and how little I valued my time and effort when I first started this endeavor! I am a new woman in 2023! UNHINGED. BANANAS. WITH PRIDE IN MY WORK. In the meantime, here are my pertinent links! Etsy Ravelry Ko-Fi    Meet the brand new, ultra sexy DRAMA LLAMA - Pastels on Royal Blue with CHEVRONOMG. So listen, chevron is like the coolest thing since sliced bread whether you are knitting or crocheting. It is even cooler than Moroccan tile crochet (I have no idea how). If you're not making something chevron right now you're pretty much a huge, lame loserface. Chevron has been around for like 800 years, but apparently it is just now cool. It just makes me think of gas stations and then I start thinking about cars and then I just want to get a Maserati and my day is ruined. Everyone and thei

UPDATE 1/23/23: Ah! I have a newer, nicer, cleaner, better-er-errrr version of this that I never shared! Have it now, my dear Dark Tower fans! I made this one using Stitchboard . I used this chart for duplicate stitch as well as some double-knitting. The reason it has the blank space around it is because I did a double-knit scarf with it originally (I have pictures somewhere but the effort is too great, and I really need to organize my pictures better). Anyway...please! Take it! Use it! Link back here and share the joy! Right-click and save it to resize it or print it. Whatever floats that boat of yours! Boat stuff! Errrr...if you're interested in commissions or want to check out my current shop inventory - Etsy . If my commissions are open, it will say so at the top of the page. If closed, I try to say when they'll reopen. Communication is key! If you're looking for patterns - get them from Ravelry , not Etsy, although they are on Etsy. I might do a post at a later date to

WIP...Thursday?

UPDATE 1/23/23: Like, I have come a long way since I first started knitting. Look at that disaster. Yowza! YOWZA! I can't even. I learned to knit from youtube videos, you know! And I think I'd only been knitting for a few months at this time.  I've made a ton of changes to that turtle chart over the years too, and I swear I'm going to share the Beam Guardian charts. I just have to find them...and probably tweak them a little.  I'm also still on the fence about doing WIP Wednesday posts again. I always have WIPs because I'm constantly working on all sorts of things! I will continue to ponder this. In the meantime, check out the current inventory of my Etsy shop .  ~~~~ Oopsies! I missed WIP Wednesday! Beam Guardian Scarf This is coming along nicely. I'm bringing the sides in and the two cables are going to merge to make one fat cable. I'm going to do something or another in the middle of the scarf then carry on to the end with the bear. I actually a

UPDATE 1/23/23: Whoa nelly, this is one of the first charts that I ever made! It was before I started using Stitchboard , which I swear by to this day! I made a little Stitchboard tutorial here . Anywho, here I am, and I have several other versions of this chart that I never shared! I also knew where I had them saved so I didn't have to rummage for them and I'm going to put them right here! You can't sell anything made with these charts, not because of me! But my Crimson King hats with this pattern got flagged on Etsy for InFrInGeMeNt. It was from the graphic novel artist, so I'm not actually salty about it - just heads up! Personal use only! Respect artists, not million dollar companies (ahem, ahem, Disney...Fox...CBS). Ok, ok, enough of that! trololol   Here are two smaller Eye of the Crimson King charts. I think I've used them both for duplicate stitch?  Right-click and save to resize them! Looking for more patterns? Ravelry ! Looking for other stuff? Etsy ! T

UPDATE 1/26/23: I'm out of control, but semi-related to all of this...I have a crochet Star Whale pattern as well as crochet Dalek beanie patterns available! UPDATE 1/23/23: I did, indeed, finish this mask. I still have it somewhere. I think I made a later post about wearing it at DragonCon and the Doctor Who children did not even recognize it because I guess they don't want the holiday specials or whatever? The Doctor Who fandom is sort of shitty, imo. For such a wholesome show, a lot of the fans are gorbage. No offense to the fans who are not! I am generalizing. It's just not a very cool fandom in my experience and I think that is exceptionally weird considering the source material. You know what is a pretty great fandom? Wrestling. For the most part, wrestling fans are excellent. There is, of course, a sub-set of fans that are mysoginist fuckfaces, but again, in my experience, the bulk is wholesome. The opposite of Doctor Who. I am just rambling to give words to the s

WIP Wednesday - Beam Guardian Scarf and Hogwarts Afghan

UPDATE 1/23/23: Should I start doing WIP Wednesdays blog posts every week? I would generate more words for the search robots. I really hate this part of marketing. I want to focus on my Ko-Fi page but I'm having trouble getting people to that page and this blog has been around for years and is established. Hmmm...a conundrum.   This posts also reminds me that I never did make the Beam Guardian animal charts available. I might, in fact, put them on my Ko-Fi .   I love the Moroccan tile/nested V stitch. Still. To this day, and as of right now I have some market bags in my Etsy shop that feature this good ol' stitch.    I won't be waxing poetic on JRK, Hogwarts, etc.  ~~~~   Dark Tower Beam Guardian Scarf - Turtle and Bear I haven't worked on this as much as I meant to after the disaster that lead to me pulling the whole thing apart last week. It looks a lot better this time and I'm approaching the top of Maturin. The scarf is double-sided so Maturin is also on
